The Model S is a great car with remarkable specs, especially since it’s running on electricity. Reaching 100 kilometers within 4.4 seconds, the Model S beats or ties many of the luxury, sporty cars on the roads today. Having the capability to seat 5 adults, this hatchback sedan goes above and beyond as you can order the same model seating 5 adults and 2 children (between 5 and 11 years old seats would be placed in the boot of the car facing the opposite direction of the driver). Tesla did this by adding extra room in the boot or trunk of the car. Quite fascinating isn’t it?
However, Tesla did not just stop there. Another remarkable feature of the Model S is that it comes with a 17-inch touch screen in the center of the dashboard. Not only does the center console allow you to take over the climate control and sunroof, but it even comes with built in data and navigation. Though the center console does not come with a flash player, (ability to play videos/audio from online or some games) both the driver and passenger can browse the web on the go. With the high resolution this centre console packs, this 17-inch screen is what the Model S is known for.
Also, another reason this car is just remarkable is that it even comes with a “frunk.” A frunk, you might be wondering what a “frunk” is. Well, if you looked through all the images in the slide show above, you will notice that the car comes with extra storage space in the front, thus the only maintenance the owner has is adding windshield fluid.
With an electrifying sound system, Tesla even gave the remote key a refreshed look. If you look through the slide show above, you will notice that the key looks just like the car. A unique feature Tesla added to the remote key, is that it comes with hotspots. If you touch the trunk of the car for example, the boot will open. Tesla did go above and beyond adding remarkable features to this absolute beast of a car.
Purchasing a Model S can also be a smart financial choice. You can save an average $4,270 dollars (compared to a gasoline powered sedan) if you drive within 30,000 miles. According to Tesla Motors, it seems the more you drive the more you save as 120,000 miles of driving means you save $17,083 dollars (compared to a gasoline powered sedan). Those savings are only in fuel cost. You could also be saving more as you will not need emission tests every 2 or so years as well as frequent oil changes.
As the features that I mentioned above were only a few of the unique features the Model S offers, now let’s move to the negative side of things.
For starters, the Tesla Model S is an electric car. That can be a pro and a con. The positive thing is that the car is eco-friendly and does not put out any pollutants into the environment. Since it runs on electricity, it’s more aerodynamic underneath the car as well, creating less drag. However, personally I believe electric cars are still in beta mode. This car can only manage to get 306 miles (highway) average distance or range, and that is with an 80-kilowatt battery. These numbers slightly show that the car is really meant for city driving.
Finally, another downside to the Model S is the charging time. If you were to charge the car using a regular 120 V outlet (found in homes) it will take 81 hours 20 minutes, if the battery was fully drained. You can decrease that time to approximately 4 hours 32 minutes with the use of a Tesla Supercharger.
As I was only able to find two flaws with the Tesla Modes S, the positive factors sure do make up for it. Starting at only $77,800 dollars for a 60-kilowatt battery, you could purchase a 80-kilowatt battery model for only $88,500. The performance model comes in at $103,300 dollars, and for a screenshot of a fully loaded model, please refer to the screenshots in the slideshow above. With the huge savings and space this car offers, it surprising how Tesla tightly packed this car with seating for 7.
