To fulfil my passion, I started planning. I thought of opening a business, and not just because I wanted a good mark on this assignment. I one day realized that computers that are sold to customers now days are limited in just about anything. You can't just swap parts in most cases, as many of the parts are made by the manufacturer of the computer.I thought of this and thought of selling custom built computers. First, I started by finding every little component I will have to buy to build a computer and watched many tutorials. It looked pretty easy, as all you basically do is just insert the part in it's proper location. A computer build is like a technical Lego build in a way. I also wrote a list of other programs I am going to have to install such as Microsoft Office or Norton Anti-Virus. I felt like this idea was going to backfire. I started to see the price range slowly rise. I was able to build computers anywhere from $300 dollars to $2,000 dollars, but cost was an issue. I thought I'd save this idea for my birthday, as I am unable to build computers due to the lack of money provided.
After that point, I believed that I failed. I felt like this because I was not able to go forward with my original idea. As I was still comfortable with the software side of things, I thought of purchasing a few video editing software programs, and creating a dramatic cooking show. After I got familiar with the tools each software offers and it's capabilities, I partnered up with Gishan to create a cooking show. As I had plans of adding special effects which I would learn from either a computer technology teacher at school or from someone on YouTube, time started to kill. As our presentation time was killed to only 7 minutes, we just created a basic cooking show, losing all the special effects made and previous recordings. After rendering the video, I watched it and thought I did a great job for my first video. I thought there were still some minor errors, but otherwise I believed that the editing wasn't too bad.
After two months, is video editing my passion? Is video editing what I desire to be when I am older? Well, I don't really know. I thought video editing was great and fun, but sometimes it got complicated. Some effects were at times difficult or time consuming. After considering the negative facts of editing, I believed computer engineering was the way to go. For me, it was a bit easier and I personally believed the pay was great. I thought video editing was fun and a great, new experience, but I hope that I will be able to start my custom computer building business.
